The public relations department does many different things for the magazine. This includes coordinating social events and team building activities. Coordinating these events helps develop personal communication and planning skills. Another aspect of public relations is running social media, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This teaches the skills needed to run and produce successful content for social media, which is increasingly relevant in an increasingly technologically focused world. The last main task is managing apparel, which can include designing and overseeing the ordering process. Public relations is also in charge of ordering and distributing senior gifts for graduating members. I personally joined this department because of my interests in social media and event planning.
