Season 1 was an original concept that existed and succeeded on its own, which subsequent seasons cannot. The best thing about season 2 is the acting. The cast is absolutely brilliant! Where Squid Game 2 feels lacking is its refusal to resolve ANY of the many threads this season. There are many ways to build suspense, but the laziest is when you simply refuse to answer all the questions you’ve been asking for an entire season, leaving it to season 3. It’s pretty clear that the show is now much less interested in telling a satisfying story and more invested in expanding the franchise into a multi-season subscription retention machine. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
